Number26, a German startup bank, has now gone live in France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Slovakia and Spain, offering free mobile-only banking services to its customers. The app-based, branch-free bank has so far proven popular with the under-35s, representing two-thirds of its current 80,000-strong user base, as well as appealing to more men than women. The company doesn’t currently charge people for its services, which include cash withdrawals using the Mastercard debit card it provides, an on-demand overdraft up to €2,000, and push notifications to keep you abreast of your spending habits.
