Gemalto says its SIM cards are secure despite NSA hacking claims

Gemalto, the world’s largest producer of SIM cards, which reportedly had its encryption keys stolen by the NSA and the UK’s GCHQ, says initial investigations show its products are secure. The company announced last week that it was undertaking an investigation after a report by The Intercept claimed its systems had been compromised by British and American spies. In a statement, the Dutch firm says: “Initial conclusions already indicate that Gemalto SIM products (as well as banking cards, passports and other products and platforms) are secure and the Company doesn’t expect to endure a significant financial prejudice.” It will present the…
