The writing’s been on the wall for a long time now, but Gartner’s latest report has confirmed that Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, as well as BlackBerry OS, have worn out their welcome. While global smartphone sales grew by nearly 4 percent in the first quarter of this year, Windows Phone’s market share dipped from 2.5 percent in Q1 2015 to 0.7 percent in Q1 2016.
